Doctrine of election

Tim Keller said something interesting about the doctrine of election.

1.

When there is only free will, and not everyone chooses to believe in christ, only a part will be saved. Now, God who is all knowing prior to their birth, whether they will be saved or not, lets this happen.

The doctrine of election says: God chooses whose eyes he opens and whose not.
In the end, he does this only for a part.
In the end what you have is: it comes back to the same result.

Both scenarios don't answer the big question: why does God let this happen ?

2.
In retrospect, people who have been saved describe this conversion experience by
something where they feel they have been moved and converted by something. Which is the Holy Ghost.
