I recently brainstormed some areas which i would like to dive into maybe from next year on
Kendo - i have stopped practising 15 years ago and have been longing to restart it ever since (like crazy). Also i want to study the influence of Kendo and Management / Strategy.
Think without ink - is a method by Venkataraman in order to use your brain power to effectively, efficientlysolve problems
SCRUM - certified scrum product owner and advanced product owner
Patents and Trademarks, des - in the knowledge economy, especially as money becomes a good that cannot be controlled by the economy itself , we need a new currency for trading and doing business.
What is the role of patents, registered design and trademarks ?
Mental models / frames - i really want to understand how mental models are built but more, how we can overcome them to build new ideas and eventually businesses.
Convergence of content - last year i worked on a project which combined new energy with gaming via an iphone app. I think we will see more of convergence of content in the next 10 years.
Design Thinking - which was created by a company called IDEO seems to be a good method of unleashing creative power that lies within us in a collaborative fashion.
Corporate Governance - In ten years, being in boards makes a lot of sense as what counts in those positions is definitely experience of track record. I remember a board meeting of a VC fund where i would say the value of the five board members subjectively exceeded more than 500 years
Writing a book or PhD dissertation on entrepreneurship - there are quite a few, but maybe out of the above there will be a good mix of experiences.

good career questions
There are two questions that help answering this question
1. What fulfilled me in the past (professionally)? Think about occasions where you were most satisfied, any why you were satisfied?
2. what were moments in my career that really frustrated me ?

Mental Models
When somebody asks you: is F A or B, and you don't know the answer, immediately, you start to think in "either or mode". So it is either A or B. The funny thing is, we miss 50% of solutions. It could be neither A nor B or it could be both A and B.
Why is that so ? In case you do not have any information about neither A nor B, you automatically assume that they are exclusive. So you try to think about what could be reasons for A or B. So lack of knowledge most of the time leads to exclusion of either the one or other option. I think, it is fair to call this an example of a mental model.
When you ask people on the street if God is transcendent or immanent which is a tough question to ask (w/o considering the "i dont know" answer) most people will opt for either transcendent, meaning: He is above us, and some people saying: I feel him everyday, therefore he is immanent. When in fact, he is both.
Unless you are challenged to think about a subject matter in great detail, you will be kept captive in mental model mode. Meaning, you won't understand that it could be both or none of the given options. Since we are - in our daily pace - keep things the way they are , and that is very true for our brain activities, most of the time we will not break out of our mental models. We will be kept in our intellectual comfort zone. This will largely influence our volitional aspects of our life.
to be continued ....

Meine Jahreslosung 2011
Und er ist wie ein Baum, gepflanzt an Wasserbächen, der seine Frucht bringt zu seiner Zeit, und dessen Blatt nicht verwelkt; und alles, was er tut, gelingt.
Psalm 1,3
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.

think different
Warren Buffett is supposed to have said this:
"Be greedy when others are fearful. Be fearful when others are greedy"
Great advise for investment decisions.
Also great: (i heard this in a podcast with Clayten
Christensen)
"Wayne Gretzky was asked how he could maintain his great
performance/success over such a long period of time. He said:
I never skate after the puck. I skate to where the puck is going
to be".
This is exactly the reason why Dennis Rodham was such a great
rebounder. He just knew/felt in which direction the ball is going
to fall.
Going into directions/ taking paths which others have not gone or
tried needs a lot of courage and the willingness to take risks
of failing.

problem solving according to Khosla
In a podcast Vinod Khosla said the following
"take a big problem
add the smartest people
the power of ideas
entrepreneurial energy
and a bit of capitalist greed "
i just love this. And what is really phenomenal is
the second thing he said
"Try and fail
but don't fail to try.
In fact there is almost anything
that is impossible, you just have to
try hard enough... keep banging until you
get there."
i guess thats why Silicon valley has become
stronger than any other region in the world
he also cited (i forgot his name, some former
chief computer scientist at Apple) this:
" the best way to predict the future is to invent it.
I would go even further. It is the only way"
"The world does not work from the top down.
it works from bottom up. We need innovation
that relevantly scales in a distributed fashion"
Reminds me of what Ray Kurzweil said about
breakthrough innovation that grow at a rate
where even the logarithmic curve kind of looks
really steep .

Kendo documentary
Kendo is by far the most fascinating sport. I had the chance of practicing for a period of 6 month in Korea.
Check out this documentary. COOL
